How to find the Best Cruise Deals
Cruise ships consider “Last Minute” travel at about the 3 month point to departure. If you can travel with only a few months notice you can get HUGE discounts.
We just booked a 25 day cruise through the Mediterranean with one month notice and that is the sweet spot for sure (I’ve been checking and it is actually going up in price a little as they are putting heads in beds). It was discounted 83% off. The rate for Brochure Oceanview is $14,319, our rate? $2,399 (but you do have to add in those pesky Government Taxes is $276.19).
Total Price: $2675.19 each. Two of us in the room. “Large Oceanview Stateroom” Catagory HH (if you are looking at the brochure). This is on Holland America a 5 Star Ship. We booked through USAA’s travel partner but my favorite site is Vacationstogo.com. They have a
We booked through USAA’s travel partner but my favorite site is Vacationstogo.com. They have a 90 day ticker. You do need to register but no credit card etc. They just want your email. In the future you only need your email (no password etc necessary).
If you want to check out deals for cruises just click on the 90 day ticker, enter your email and ta da…there they are. I love that I can glance down the list on the right side to quickly view the discount percentage and price to make sure I’m maximizing my travel dollar.
Just click on the Deal number and you’ll get a list of ports and times they dock and sail as well as all cabin options available. In the example above an inside cabin is $2,299, balcony $4,499 and a suite (for real royalty) $6,239 (brochure is $21,059).
We’ll blog the trip and our finds as we sail along (click here link).
